Doing my taxes again... ugh. They keep getting more and more complicated (I should be making more money!) but I'm still happy with TaxAct. Great system. Now if I can just figure out where that schedule E line 54 Y code on my form 1506ZJKI is... Now remind me again what is <strong>so bad</strong> about a freakin FLAT TAX?

Love TaxAct...even with the data charge it's still the best for the money. We use the online version, works great for our small business.

I've used TaxACT for years as well, and I've always paid for the deluxe version. $9.99 seems like a reasonable price to pay. This year TaxACT has added a new cost. They now CHARGE me to look at previous year's returns. A Data Archive Service fee for $12. Screw that, if they are going to hold my data hostage I will find some other way to prepare my taxes. Maybe even go back to Turbo Tax.

Um... I hate to burst your bubble, but I've been using TaxACT for years. I usually type in my info manually, but this year I opted for the Import feature in the Deluxe package, which is advertised as only $9.99. I later discovered that they charge an additional $8 for importing your State return. Guess what? I gave up trying to find out how to downgrade without making a new profile, and I found this page...

"and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin,
all the angels and saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God."

Well, you know that part's weird to me. What if they don't? Or what if they do (even though I didn't ask)? It's also weird to me that there is no direct request to God for forgiveness because of what Christ has done for us (I can imagine it implied but sheep like me are stupid). Maybe I'm stuck in that guilt-grace-gratitude formula (pattern for most lutheran confessions)?

I will say this- it is very cool to me that the "general confession" is much more widespread than I thought at one time. Yeah, I'm ignorant about a lot of things :). The fundamentalists would do well to incorporate such a confession into their loose liturgies. The last 3 churches I was in (before this one) would've kicked you out for actually saying you were a SINNER every Sunday!!

Here's what we'll be saying this morning:

   "I confess to almighty God,
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have sinned through my own fault,
in my thoughts and in my words,
    in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do;
and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin,
    all the angels and saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God."

And then we'll follow it up (as you guys do, too) with some "Kyries" for good measure.

I do like the confession from the Lutheran liturgy mentioned in the blog post you linked to. Especially this part:

"Forgive us, renew us and lead us, so that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name."

If not for the hope of the latter part, the first would just be a dog biting at mortal wounds.

Thanks g & Trudy!

Trudy- I could've made it more sappy but I was trying to spare any bros reading... the full, "Lifetime" script is waaay more sappy!

g- Looks like I'm in a new band now and the guitarist reminds me so much of you... except for his juvenile potty mouth. Maybe there's hope for him?
