An easy way to listen to Moving Sky…

Monday, September 15th, 2008

If you want to hear all the songs off the Moving Sky disc (plus a bonus song) click the link below:

This should stream everything in order. Kind of like your own little Moving Sky jukebox. I don’t know why I haven’t done this already…

News? Maybe…

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Since my last post… things got super hectic at work (is that news?) and I’m STILL getting over the last viral thing!! That was a serious bug! Probably a new mutation of some sort still evolving before it peaks and wipes down humanity. I say “down” instead of “out” because, well, that seems to be its MO. Anyway, enough about my ailments (call it practice for when I get old).

My son, who’s young btw, also had some misfortune. He has a broken finger and will not be playing football this year. We’re all sad about that but it’s definitely not the end of the world. I plan on spending some time running with him 3-4 times a week to simulate that healthy, sporty environment (and keep us both in shape). I suspect this will be a family thing even- my wife & daughter plan to join us. He wants to play for his school next year and I don’t want to buy bigger pants so it’s a win-win.

In Moving Sky news… A cable channel in MA has a show that focuses on local music. Apparently Moving Sky will be discussed there. That’s cool in my book. Also, a college radio station in Sioux City requested a cd for air play. Also cool. I’m going to send out copies around here and in Nashville just for fun this month… The odds are stacked against us but I’ve been known to gamble a few times.

And Bama’s 2-0 thus far so I’m happy about that. If they’re 4-0 when they roll into Georgia things are gonna be crazy (and that’s very probable). If they’re 5-0 when they roll out of Georgia things are gonna be out of hand (that’s very improbable). You know what, it’s great fun being a fan. Everybody should be a fan of something. It helps to keep one from thinking about death all the time!

Oh, this week on the White Horse Inn you can actually see the guys (streaming vid) and they have a special guest: R.C. Sproul. And with such a special guest the best they could offer was diet coke!? :)

Maybe I’ll have more news next time. Mercy!

getting better?

Monday, August 11th, 2008

I’ve been sick for a few days now… and, as usual, overwhelmed. But I’m getting better right?

I’m still casting bread on the water- looks like one copy of the Moving Sky project will land in the Decatur, AL public library’s circulation thanks to Gaijin. And I added a couple of songs to the mp3.com account (which, surprisingly has quite a few downloads: Breathe Away and Stop, Stop & Go lead the way). Just let me know if there’s another place I should freely share this stuff.

The sky is still moving…

podpress woes continue

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Aiee… good thing I don’t have a fresh, new song burning a hole in my pocket!

Still no fix for podpress (and I’m forced to post this in a weird way) but things are shaking and moving anyway.

I just got some review copies of the final Moving Sky cd! So, that’s happening. And I’m “back blogging” a bit… when the progs are running right I’ll have some text to dump. Unless I second guess myself out of it. Either way, it won’t kill you.

Um, if the review copies pass, I’ll also have a link where you can order your own personal copy of Moving Sky songs. Or, if I know you, you can email me for a free copy (actually, you can email me for a free copy if I don’t know you- I’m going to give away as many as I can afford to).

Sometimes You Fly on garageband

Friday, July 18th, 2008

Next week Sometimes You Fly will be featured as “track of the week” in garageband’s experimental rock section. It also shot straight to round 2 in the song judging. Those may sound like small feats (and they really are actually) but they’re very difficult to accomplish. So… I’m happy about that. This song has been doing very well for itself over there so far- overall reviewer score of 4.9 out of 5 at the moment! If you want to see all the feedback & stuff you can visit the song’s page here.

And… the final Moving Sky disk is already in the mail heading this way from Hudson, MA! Bang the drums slowly and glare at the moon! If everything works like magic, I may have disks in a couple of weeks or so. And I may just send one to you so watch out!

In other news, football season is right around the corner. My son starts the summer camp in a week or two and Bama will be facing Clemson before I know it. Ah, good times.

Moving Sky moving right along!

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

Believe it or not, the Moving Sky cd is complete! Mr. Pete Zolli is adding the final touches (might be done right now even?). Of the 12 songs we recorded, 10 will make the final cut. It’s going to be nice to actually have a finished product to share. My only concern is that some people might want this music reproduced in a live situation… and these songs sound a LOT different when it’s just me & a guitar! Too bad we don’t live closer to each other.

As soon as I actually have disks in hand I’ll post. There will also be a way to purchase them online (yeah, I know you’re dying to do that!)

Black Sunday Morning

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Here’s a song destined to be left off the Moving Sky cd. It doesn’t play well with the others… Yes, it’s different in more ways than one! The one way that should concern you presently is encryption- 256 instead of the usual 128. I know, those are just numbers, but they will affect your stream buffer & download times. I think it’s justifiable since you probably won’t have a chance to hear it “cd quality” and this is as close as it gets here. If you DO think it should be on the cd (and should bump another song), please comment back and explain. Otherwise, just enjoy or be irritated. Sola Gratia.

P.S. I like it.

A Good Friend To Have

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

It’s that time again! Another new Moving Sky production… and this one’s unique. It reminds me of the Beatles doing country.

Sometimes You Fly (lyrics)

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

[To hear this song, click here.]

sometimes it sticks
for no apparent reason
sometimes the walls
just won’t hold up the ceiling

and sometimes your words
just fall straight down
and sometimes you fly
too close to the ground

and all of the prophets
and all the believers
and all of the well wishers
and all the deceivers

they all move their mouths
but you can’t hear a sound
yeah sometimes you fly
too close to the ground

an empty hole
fills up with sound
like empty dreams
in your ghost town
sad, empty eyes
cold, bitter frown
yeah sometimes you fly
too close to the ground

sometimes you’re right
for all the wrong reasons
and sometimes you fight
for something to believe in

sometimes late at night
when the world shuts down
sometimes you fly
too close to the ground

and all of your friends
and all your enemies
and all of the know-it-alls
and all your family

they all move their mouths
but you can’t hear a sound
cause sometimes you fly
too close to the ground

an empty hole
fills up with sound
like empty dreams
in your ghost town
sad, empty eyes
cold, bitter frown
yeah sometimes you fly
too close to the ground

Sometimes You Fly…

Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

Surprise! A new song for you from the Moving Sky project. I can almost hear George Harrison’s ghost in the background of this curious lament…
